Chrysocolla is a copper silicate hydroxide mineral its name comes from the Greek words "chrysos," meaning gold, and "kolla," meaning glue, due to its historical use as a flux for soldering gold. It is typically found in areas of copper deposits and is often associated with other copper minerals such as malachite and azurite. The Morenci Mine in Arizona is one of the largest copper mines in the United States and has been a significant source of chrysocolla specimens. Chrysocolla from the Morenci Mine typically exhibits a rich blue-green color with swirling patterns.
